DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

  • Mongolia and the Republic of Indonesia established diplomatic relations in December 21, 1956.

RECIPROCAL VISITS

The visit of President of Indonesia Soekarno to Mongolia in 1956 contributed to the establishment of diplomatic ties between Mongolia and the Republic of Indonesia.

  • President of Mongolia Punsalmaa Ochirbat paid an official visit to Indonesia in 1997 to strengthen and expand the bilateral relations and promote a better understanding between the two nations.
  • Prime Minister of Mongolia Nambar Enkhbayar visited Jakarta in 2002. During the visit, he hold official talks with President of Indonesia Megawati.
  • At the invitation of President of Mongolia Natsag Bagabandi, the Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri conducted Indonesia’s first ever state visit to Mongolia in June 2003.
  • Prime Minister of Mongolia Sukhbaatar Batbold attend the Bali Democracy Forum in 2011 at the invitation of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
  • President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono paid a state visit to Mongolia in 2012 at the invitation of President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj.
  • Mongolia and the Republic of Indonesia have also witnessed a number of reciprocal visits of parlamentarians and government official at all level.
  • The Indonesian Parliamentary delegation went to Ulaanbaatar to participate Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum.
  • There is Mongolia – Indonesia Parliamentary Group in Ulaanbaatar chaired by Oktyabri Baasankhuu, MP. O.Baasankhuu visited Jakarta in 2014 and had a meeting with the Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of People's Representative Council of Indonesia Nurhayati Ali Assegaf.

BILATERAL REPRESENTATION

  • The Embassy of Mongolia has been established in Jakarta in March 12, 2014. Ambassador of Mongolia Battsetseg Shagdar presented her credentials to President of Indonesia Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in October 2014.
  • The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing is accredited to Mongolia. Ambassador Soegeng Raharjo presented his credentials to President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj in March 2014.
